This project at Kota Emerald, Rawang, showcases EverKitchen’s expertise in premium kitchen design. Featuring dark charcoal grey cabinetry, natural stone-effect countertops, black hardware and fixtures, and a built-in display cabinet with bronze-tinted glass, the kitchen delivers a bold, contemporary aesthetic that balances dramatic colour with precise detailing and practical storage throughout.
Homeowner Habits & Needs
The homeowners wanted a kitchen that could handle serious daily cooking while making a strong visual statement. Generous countertop space, a large kitchen island, and well-organised internal storage were priorities, along with integrated appliance placement and a display area for decorative items. The overall look needed to feel refined and cohesive rather than simply dark.
Design Challenges & Pain Points
Designing a predominantly dark kitchen without it feeling heavy or closed-in required careful balancing of finishes, lighting, and reflective surfaces. Fitting a full kitchen island into the layout while maintaining comfortable circulation around it was a key spatial consideration. Delivering high-quality internal storage, including smooth drawer systems that function reliably under daily use, was equally important to the homeowners’ brief.
Customised Kitchen Cabinets
The kitchen features floor-to-ceiling cabinetry in a dark charcoal grey high-gloss finish, paired with a stone-effect marble countertop and backsplash that runs the full length of the cooking wall. A matte black chimney hood and undermount black sink with a matching black tap carry the dark palette through to the fixtures without interruption. Under-cabinet LED strip lighting runs the length of the upper cabinets, providing practical task lighting while adding warmth that offsets the deep grey tones. Internal drawer systems with soft-close runners and black-finished interiors reflect the same level of finish detail carried throughout the cabinetry.
Kitchen Island
A large kitchen island with a generous stone countertop serves as the centrepiece of the space. Its proportions provide ample prep surface for cooking and casual use, while the island base continues the charcoal grey cabinet finish for a fully integrated look. The island’s placement creates a natural division between the cooking zone and the open living area, improving the flow of the space without closing it off.
Built-In Display Cabinet
A floor-to-ceiling display cabinet with bronze-tinted glass panels and warm internal lighting introduces a refined accent to the kitchen. The dark-framed glass shelving provides space for decorative items and glassware, and the warm glow of the interior lighting creates a focal point that adds depth to the overall design. The cabinet’s proportions and placement balance the full-height grey cabinetry on the opposite wall.
