Project Overview
This project at Robin Rimbayu, Teluk Panglima Garang, is a landed terrace house renovation where EverKitchen delivered a warm, timber-forward interior package across the ground floor living area, under-stair storage wall, and kitchen. Centred on a palette of warm oak wood-grain cabinetry, greige matte flat panels, and dark stone-effect countertops, the design creates a calm, grounded home that feels natural and considered without relying on colour or contrast for its character.
Homeowner Habits & Needs
The homeowners needed a new landed home to feel warm and welcoming from the ground floor up, with a TV feature wall that anchored the living room, a practical under-stair storage and display solution that used the dead space beneath the staircase, and a kitchen that was fully functional with sufficient upper storage, a hood, and a dark stone countertop that would hold up to daily cooking. The consistent use of warm oak throughout was a deliberate preference to bring natural warmth into every zone.
Design Challenges & Pain Points
In a newly built landed property, the ground floor is often a large open volume that can feel empty and unanchored without the right built-in elements to define each zone. A full-height warm oak timber column flanking the TV wall gives the living room a vertical anchor point and adds architectural weight to an otherwise plain white wall. Using the same warm oak wood-grain panel language at the under-stair storage wall, the TV console, and the kitchen upper cabinets creates a material thread that ties the entire ground floor together without needing additional finishes or feature elements.
Customised Kitchen Cabinets
The kitchen features warm dark oak wood-grain upper and lower cabinetry with a dark charcoal stone-effect countertop running the full length of the cooking wall and wrapping around the corner to the sink zone. A black undermount sink sits in the countertop at the window end of the L-shaped layout, taking advantage of natural daylight. A stainless steel chimney hood is integrated into the upper cabinet run above the hob zone. Warm LED strip lighting is recessed beneath the upper cabinet base, casting an amber wash across the dark countertop below. The combination of warm dark timber cabinetry and a dark stone countertop gives the kitchen a rich, grounded quality that complements the timber tones used throughout the ground floor.
TV Feature Wall & Living Area
The living room TV feature wall combines a full-height warm oak timber column as a vertical accent flanking the TV recess on one side, with a floating greige matte console beneath the TV that extends the full width of the wall. The console features an open black-toned recess below the TV panel for a media player or console, with flat greige matte drawer and door fronts on either side. Recessed ceiling downlights above the feature wall illuminate the oak column and console from above. The result is a TV wall that feels architectural and warm without relying on stone cladding, LED cove lighting, or complex decorative elements.
Under-Stair Storage & Display Wall
The under-stair void is transformed into a full built-in storage and display wall using warm oak timber panel doors for the closed storage sections and warm amber-backlit open glass-fronted display shelving for the decorative display zone. The display shelving with internal warm LED lighting creates a warm amber glow within the niche that draws the eye from across the living room and gives the under-stair area a purposeful, considered presence. The oak timber panel doors above and beside the lit display section complete the under-stair wall as a unified built-in element.
Design Philosophy
At EverKitchen, a landed home earns its warmth through material consistency and the discipline to carry one material language from room to room. At Robin Rimbayu, warm oak wood-grain panels run from the kitchen upper cabinets through the TV console to the under-stair display wall, making the entire ground floor feel like one deliberate decision rather than a collection of separate joinery pieces.
