Project Overview
This project at Taman Mulia Residences, Cyberjaya, is a compact apartment bedroom renovation where EverKitchen delivered a fully integrated study and storage solution combining floor-to-ceiling wardrobes in light grey matte, an open bookshelf column, an integrated study desk, and a high-gloss white wardrobe section, all within a single built-in wall unit. Practical, space-efficient, and thoughtfully zoned, the design turns a single bedroom wall into a complete live, study, and storage environment.
Homeowner Habits & Needs
The homeowner, likely a student or young professional, needed a compact bedroom to function as both a sleeping and working space without feeling cramped. A full-height wardrobe for clothing storage, an open bookshelf for textbooks and personal books, and a dedicated study desk with sufficient surface area were all required within the same built-in wall unit footprint. The design needed to feel organised and calm rather than cluttered, with every function given a defined place within the built-in system.
Design Challenges & Pain Points
Fitting a wardrobe, an open bookshelf, and a study desk into a single compact bedroom wall without any one function feeling squeezed requires careful zoning of the vertical and horizontal space. Placing the open bookshelf column at one end of the built-in wall adjacent to the bed allows books to be within reach from the sleeping position, while the study desk and closed wardrobe storage occupy the remaining wall length in a clean, flush-panel run. The desk surface sits at a practical working height with the dark grey desktop contrasting the light grey cabinet panels above it, creating a visual separation between the work zone and the storage zone within the same built-in system.
Integrated Study & Storage Wall
The bedroom features a full-height built-in wall system in light grey matte flat panels spanning the full bedroom wall length, divided into three functional zones: a full-height closed wardrobe section with slim bar handles for clothing storage, an open bookshelf column with multiple fixed shelves housing a personal book and reference collection, and an integrated study desk with a dark grey desktop surface and open side shelving. The built-in system runs from floor to ceiling across the full wall, making maximum use of vertical space and keeping the bedroom floor clear. The light grey matte panels are consistent across all three zones, giving the entire built-in wall a clean, unified appearance despite serving three distinct functions.
High-Gloss Wardrobe Section
A separate high-gloss white wardrobe section with a warm timber top panel detail is positioned in an adjacent zone or second bedroom, with large flat-panel doors in a bright white high-gloss finish that reflects light and keeps the room feeling open. A slim warm timber veneer panel detail runs along the top of the wardrobe, introducing a warm accent that prevents the all-white high-gloss wardrobe from reading as clinical. Warm LED strip lighting visible at one section of the wardrobe run adds a warm ambient glow at the wardrobe edge.
Design Philosophy
At EverKitchen, a compact student or young professional bedroom earns its practicality through a built-in system that gives every function a defined place within a single clean wall. At Taman Mulia Residences, light grey matte flat panels, an integrated study desk, open bookshelves, and full-height wardrobe storage combine to create a bedroom that supports how a busy, study-oriented homeowner actually lives.
