Project Overview
This project at Viana, Elmina Garden, Shah Alam, is a large landed home renovation where EverKitchen delivered an extensive built-in package across multiple rooms including a study, master bedroom dressing area, children’s bedrooms, a living room display wall, a master bedroom vanity and wardrobe wall, and a dark-toned kitchen. Each zone was designed with its own material character while sharing a consistent quality of finish, LED lighting detail, and joinery precision across the entire home.
Homeowner Habits & Needs
A large family home requires built-in solutions that serve every member of the household across every room. The homeowners needed a fully equipped study with floating shelves and a built-in desk, a master bedroom with a long vanity console, wardrobe storage, and a dressing area, children’s bedrooms with individual character and integrated display shelving, a living room with a full-height display and book wall, and a kitchen that could handle serious daily cooking within a bold, dark aesthetic. The scope of this project called for EverKitchen to design and deliver across every room as a single coordinated renovation.
Design Challenges & Pain Points
Coordinating a home renovation across this many rooms and zones requires a design strategy that allows each room its own identity while maintaining material and lighting consistency across the whole. Warm oak timber panels, warm LED strip lighting, and greige and grey matte flat-panel cabinetry appear across multiple rooms in different configurations, creating a family of finishes that feels coherent from room to room without being repetitive.
Study Room
The study features floating wall shelves in warm dark timber with warm LED strip lighting recessed beneath each shelf, creating a warm amber glow across the display surface. The shelves are arranged in a two-row configuration above a built-in L-shaped desk in matching warm timber, giving the study a warm, library-like quality. Photo frames and personal objects displayed on the shelves add a personal dimension to what could otherwise be a purely functional workspace.
Master Bedroom Wardrobe & Dressing Area
The master bedroom features floor-to-ceiling wardrobes in warm oak wood-grain flat panels with slim push-to-open or bar handle detailing, with a dedicated dressing corner featuring a floating bench seat in a warm timber finish beneath the wardrobe run. A round mirror hangs above the bench seat, and a warm amber pendant light hangs beside the window above the dressing surface, creating a warm and considered dressing zone within the bedroom. A backlit open display niche with warm LED lighting is integrated into the wardrobe run for decorative objects and small figurines, adding a personal display element at eye level.
Master Bedroom Vanity Console
A long floating vanity console in light grey matte with multiple drawers spans the full width of one bedroom wall, with a large round mirror above and a small stool beneath, creating a complete vanity station for the master bedroom. Two slim black cylindrical pendant lights hang either side of the mirror, providing warm task lighting at face level. Warm LED strip lighting runs along the top edge of the console, casting a warm wash upward against the wall.
Children’s Bedroom Study & Display Wall
A children’s bedroom features a full built-in study and display wall combining warm oak timber drawers and a desk surface below with open backlit display shelving above, framed by a sage green painted feature panel. A green mint backing panel inside the display niche adds a playful colour accent behind the warm LED-lit shelving, and the desk surface below provides a functional study workspace. The combination of warm timber, green accents, and warm LED lighting gives the room a character that is both functional and personal.
Living Room Display & Book Wall
The living room features a full-height display and bookshelf wall spanning one entire wall, with open shelving niches in a warm cream finish backlit by warm LED strip lighting, displaying books, collectibles, and decorative objects across multiple compartments. The display wall uses a grid of open and closed compartments at various heights, creating a visually rich surface that functions as both a library and a display gallery for the family’s collection.
Kitchen
The kitchen features dark charcoal grey matte flat-panel upper and lower cabinetry with a white stone countertop, forming a bold two-tone contrast. A long floating upper cabinet run with warm LED underlighting spans the full cooking wall, and a white backsplash runs beneath. Black pendant lights hang above a kitchen peninsula or breakfast bar, and track lighting above the kitchen provides task illumination. A TV is mounted at the end of the kitchen zone, making the kitchen an open, social space connected to the living and dining areas.
Design Philosophy
At EverKitchen, a whole-home renovation is the fullest expression of what considered joinery can do. At Viana, Elmina Garden, warm timber, warm LED lighting, and precise flat-panel cabinetry carry from the study through every bedroom to the living room and kitchen, making a large home feel designed rather than furnished.
