Project Overview
This project at RC Residence, Sungai Besi, showcases EverKitchen’s work in a compact apartment renovation that balances a fresh two-tone kitchen, a built-in TV feature wall, and full bedroom wardrobe storage within a tight footprint. Featuring white high-gloss cabinetry paired with warm oak wood-grain accents, marble-effect countertops, and warm LED strip lighting throughout, the design creates a bright, welcoming home that feels generous despite its size.
Homeowner Habits & Needs
The homeowners needed a compact apartment to function efficiently across all daily activities: cooking, relaxing, and sleeping comfortably with adequate storage. The kitchen required a practical layout with a small island or peninsula for additional workspace, the living room needed a built-in TV wall that introduced warmth and structure, and the bedroom required floor-to-ceiling wardrobe storage that kept the room tidy without feeling cramped.
Design Challenges & Pain Points
Designing a compact apartment to feel spacious and considered requires restraint in the palette and precision in the proportions. Using high-gloss white cabinetry throughout helps reflect light and open the space visually, but needs to be balanced with warm timber accents to avoid feeling cold or clinical. Fitting a functional kitchen island into a small kitchen footprint while keeping circulation comfortable was a key layout challenge.
Customised Kitchen Cabinets
The kitchen features upper and lower cabinetry in a white high-gloss finish paired with warm oak wood-grain lower drawer fronts, creating a two-tone treatment that adds visual interest without complicating the palette. White marble-effect countertops and a matching backsplash run the full length of the cooking wall. A gas hob with a black glass chimney hood and an undermount sink are integrated cleanly into the layout. Under-cabinet LED strip lighting illuminates the countertop and reinforces the warm tone of the timber accents below.
Kitchen Island & Peninsula
A compact kitchen island or peninsula with a white stone countertop and a warm oak wood-grain fluted or ribbed base panel extends the worktop into the kitchen’s open zone, providing additional prep space and a casual dining point. The ribbed timber base detail adds texture and warmth at eye level, distinguishing the island from the surrounding flat-panel cabinetry and making it a considered centrepiece of the kitchen.
TV Feature Wall & Living Area
The living room TV feature wall combines a white recessed panel backdrop with warm oak wood-grain vertical side columns and a floating shelf beneath the TV. Warm LED strip lighting runs along the top of the feature wall recess, casting an amber glow that complements the timber tones and adds depth to the otherwise white wall. The result is a feature wall that feels warm and architectural without relying on stone cladding or complex finishes. Warm ceiling cove lighting above reinforces the ambient tone across the living area.
Built-In Wardrobes
The bedroom features floor-to-ceiling built-in wardrobes in a white high-gloss finish with minimal bar handles, maximising storage capacity while keeping the room feeling light and open. The full-height design uses every available centimetre of vertical space, and the consistent white finish ties the bedroom back to the kitchen and living room palette. A slim mirrored wardrobe panel provides a practical full-length reflection within the bedroom storage run.
Design Philosophy
At EverKitchen, small apartments reward simplicity done with care. At RC Residence, white high-gloss surfaces keep the rooms feeling open, warm oak accents prevent the palette from feeling sterile, and LED strip lighting does the work of making every surface feel considered. The result is a compact home that lives larger than its footprint suggests.
