This project at SK1 Residensi, Seri Kembangan, is a refined apartment renovation where EverKitchen delivered a calm, pale sage and warm white interior package featuring a full-height corridor wardrobe wall with a warm-lit horizontal display niche, a sculptural arched open shelving column with warm LED lighting, a compact stacked washer-dryer utility zone, and warm herringbone timber flooring throughout. Soft, rounded architectural details, warm amber LED underlighting, and a cool sage matte palette combine to create a home with a quiet, boutique residential quality rarely seen at apartment scale.
Homeowner Habits & Needs
The homeowners wanted an apartment that felt distinctly different from standard Malaysian apartment finishes: softer in tone, more considered in detail, and with architectural elements that gave the space a custom, boutique quality. A full-height wardrobe wall with a warm-lit open display niche was needed for the corridor or bedroom zone. A dedicated laundry utility area with a stacked washer-dryer and integrated sink needed to be practical and clean without feeling purely functional. An open shelving column for personal display objects, styled with plants, ceramics, and skincare accessories, was required as a personal display zone within the living or bedroom area.
Design Challenges & Pain Points
Introducing rounded, arched architectural details into a flat-panel built-in environment requires precise fabrication to ensure the curved edges and arched shelf openings read as deliberate and well-proportioned rather than informal. The arched open shelving column with warm amber LED underlighting on each shelf is the most technically distinctive element of this project: each shelf opening has a rounded arch profile rather than a square recess, giving the shelving column a sculptural, hand-crafted quality that elevates it from a standard open display niche into a genuine architectural detail. The pale sage matte palette of the flat-panel wardrobe and corridor cabinetry allows the arched shelving column and warm LED lighting to carry the visual interest without the cabinetry itself needing to be bold.
Corridor Wardrobe Wall & Display Niche
The corridor or bedroom entry features a full-height built-in wardrobe wall in pale sage matte flat panels with push-to-open doors, with a slim warm-lit horizontal display niche recessed into the wardrobe face at mid-height. The horizontal niche is backlit by warm amber LED strip lighting and styled with a small figurine, a decorative object, and a small plant, creating a warm display accent at eye level within the otherwise flat wardrobe surface. Warm cove lighting runs along the ceiling above the wardrobe wall, casting a warm amber wash downward across the pale sage panel surface.
Arched Open Shelving Column
A full-height open shelving column with arched shelf openings in a pale sage or soft white finish is positioned beside the wardrobe wall, with warm amber LED strip lighting recessed beneath each arched shelf casting a warm glow across the displayed objects below. Each shelf holds a personal curation of plants, ceramics, amber glass bottles, skincare accessories, and small decorative objects, each warmly illuminated by the LED shelf lighting within its arched recess. The arched profile of each shelf opening gives the column a sculptural, architectural quality that makes it the most distinctive and personal element of the renovation.
Stacked Washer-Dryer Utility Zone
The utility zone features a stacked front-load washer and dryer integrated into a dedicated laundry alcove with white flat-panel cabinetry above and a white countertop with a utility sink beside the appliances. Aluminium venetian blinds at the utility zone window provide practical light control. The white cabinetry and clean white appliances keep the utility zone bright and functional without drawing visual attention away from the more considered design elements of the main living and bedroom zones.
Herringbone Timber Flooring
Warm honey-toned herringbone timber-effect flooring runs throughout the corridor and bedroom zones, adding a warm natural material underfoot that complements the pale sage cabinetry and warm amber LED lighting above. The herringbone pattern adds visual richness and texture at floor level, giving the apartment a considered finish detail that runs consistently from the corridor through to the bedroom.
