Project Overview

This project at Tropicana Height, Kajang, is a landed terrace house renovation where EverKitchen delivered a calm, architecturally considered ground floor package centred on a warm taupe TV feature wall with an integrated open bookshelf column, a floating dark console, a charcoal grey bedroom wardrobe with warm timber slat divider panels, and a warm oak timber wardrobe wall. Natural light, warm timber accents, and a restrained neutral palette combine to create a home that feels spacious, grounded, and quietly refined.

Homeowner Habits & Needs

The homeowners wanted a ground floor living space that felt open and architecturally considered rather than furnished. The TV wall needed to function as a true feature wall rather than a painted surface with a mounted screen, anchored by an integrated open bookshelf column for books and display objects. The bedroom required full-height wardrobe storage with a warm material character, and the study or home office area needed a built-in desk that made the most of natural light from the window beside it.

Design Challenges & Pain Points

Creating a TV feature wall that reads as architectural rather than decorative in a landed home with high ceilings and generous natural light requires commitment to scale and material. A full-height taupe microcement or paint-finished feature wall spanning the entire living room wall, paired with a dark floating console at low level and a full-height open bookshelf column in a dark timber finish at one end, gives the living room a considered presence without relying on stone cladding, LED strips, or complex materials. Track lighting mounted on the ceiling rather than recessed downlights reinforces the loft-like, contemporary quality of the living room ceiling treatment.

TV Feature Wall & Living Area

The living room TV feature wall is a full-height taupe-toned flat wall finish spanning the entire width of the room, with a low-profile dark floating TV console running the full length of the wall at floor level. A full-height open bookshelf column in a dark warm timber finish is integrated at one end of the TV wall, providing open shelving for books and display objects across multiple compartments. A small potted plant and a tall ceramic vase are placed on the floating console, introducing natural elements at floor level. Track lighting above illuminates the feature wall and the bookshelf column from above, reinforcing the clean architectural quality of the space.

Bedroom Wardrobe

The bedroom features floor-to-ceiling wardrobes in charcoal grey matte flat panels with long slim bar handles, flanked by a warm timber vertical slat divider panel that separates the wardrobe run from the adjacent wall or room boundary. The vertical slat panel introduces a warm natural timber accent against the charcoal grey cabinetry, softening the darker tone and adding a layered material texture to the wardrobe wall. The combination of charcoal matte flat panels and warm timber slats gives the bedroom wardrobe a considered, hotel-quality finish.

Timber Wardrobe Wall

A separate wardrobe or storage wall in a warm oak wood-grain flat panel finish is positioned in an adjacent bedroom or corridor zone, with full-height panel doors in a rich warm timber grain and a slim black triangular or angular handle detail. The warm timber grain panels are bold in scale and close in tone to a natural veneer, giving this wardrobe wall a warm, residential quality that contrasts with the darker charcoal wardrobe in the main bedroom.

Study & Home Office

A slim built-in desk surface is positioned beside a window in the study zone, making use of natural daylight from the window for the workspace. The desk surface sits at a low profile beside the window frame, keeping the sightline to the exterior open and the workspace connected to the natural light and garden view beyond.

Design Philosophy

At EverKitchen, a landed home at this scale earns its character through restraint and material confidence. At Tropicana Height, a full-height taupe feature wall, a dark floating console, warm timber slat accents, and charcoal wardrobe panels combine to create a ground floor that feels considered, spacious, and calm without a single unnecessary detail.
